CLEP or Industry Certification Courses
College Level Examination Program (CLEP) courses offer students the option to write examinations to show knowledge of college-level coursework. CLEP general and subject examinations are accepted for credit by colleges and universities. Students can earn a weighted grade for the course if they pass the examination.

Project Lead the Way: Biomedical Sciences
The Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences program offers students advantages from career readiness and hands-on experience to college prep-level classes, labs, and creative exercises. The PLTW Biomedical Sciences program is a sequence of four courses offered through the Science Department and is hands-on and based on real-world experience. Courses have high standards for rigorous, focused, and engaging study, and develop innovative, collaborative, cooperative, and problem-solving skills.
STEM Education
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education encourages students to be creative and innovative, to think critically and logically, to identify and solve problems, and to effectively collaborate and communicate. STEM courses are offered in the Technology and Engineering Education, Science, and Computer Science Departments. In addition to specific courses, STEM activities are integrated into many courses.
Transcripted Technical College Credit
Under an agreement with Moraine Park Technical College, some courses offered at HUHS may be taken for Transcripted (TC) technical college credit. A student who successfully completes the course and pre-established criteria will be awarded high school credit and TC technical college credit. All courses listed below are Transcripted Credit courses. All Transcripted courses are aligned with current MPTC course offerings and based on an annual agreement signed at the beginning of each school year. These agreements are subject to change based on MPTC course curriculum and requirements.

Science Equivalency Credit Courses
The Department of Public Instruction recognizes courses with significant science content as science equivalency credit courses. HUHS will accept the courses listed below as science credits for graduation. The University of Wisconsin System may also count these courses for part of the three high school units of science required for admission to UW institutions. Check with the Counseling Office for the details on how each institution will count these courses toward satisfying admission requirements. Science equivalency credits are awarded to students successfully completing the following courses:
- Animal Science
- Plant and Soil Science
- Veterinary Medicine
Advanced Placement and Project Lead the Way Program
To help prepare all students for the global workforce, the College Board and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) have partnered on a program to encourage student participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) courses and build their interest in STEM degrees and careers. Students who complete the requirements earn the AP + PLTW student recognition, a qualification that demonstrates to colleges and employers that the student is ready for advanced course work and interested in careers in this discipline.
To earn the recognition, the student must satisfactorily complete three courses in the pathway—Principles of Biomedical Sciences; AP Biology or AP Chemistry; and another PLTW Biomedical Sciences course or the other AP science course—and earn a qualifying score of 3 or higher on the AP Exam(s) and a score of Proficient or higher on the PLTW End of Course (EoC) assessment(s).

Advanced Placement Testing (AP)
Students may receive college-level credit for taking AP classes while in high school. In order to receive college-level credit, the student must take the designated test which will be administered at HUHS in May. The student must score at a required level on the test in order to be eligible for college credit.

Some courses offered at HUHS may be taken for Transcripted Technical College Credit. All courses listed below are TC courses and are aligned with MPTC course offerings or Lakeshore Technical College offerings. These agreements are subject to change based on course curricula requirements and teacher credentials.
