If the laptop itself is not connecting to the network, or if it is showing that the wifi card is not available (a red X over where the wifi signal appears in the lower right hand corner of the desktop).
- Make sure the wifi capability is turned on. To turn the wifi capability on hold the function key (Fn) and press either F8 or F5 depending on the model. The F8 or F5 key will have an antennae logo with a line through it.
- If the laptop still will not connect after ensuring or turning on wifi capability, restart the computer completely. If the laptop still fails to connect bring the laptop to the help desk.
Sometimes I get a Yellow triangle and my computer says limited connection.
- This error is caused by moving to other classrooms or other parts of the building and your laptop trying to connect back to the last place you were.
- To fix this click the connection in the connections list the lower left corner.
- Select disconnect. Once disconnected reconnect to the connection you were one (HUstudents or HUstaff).
- Open a browser and try to navigate to a site.
- If you still cannot get to any sites or the connection still says limited access, restart your computer.
- If still having issues after restarting bring the laptop to the help desk.
