Email Special Education Teacher Introduction Hi! My name is Abby Bumgarner and I am a special education teacher. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/Middle School Education and Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I started my career working at St. Rose Youth and Family Center as a teacher and case manager for teenage girls with severe emotional and behavioral needs. From there I worked for one year in Cedarburg at the middle school and from there received a job at HUHS. This is my sixth year at Hartford running the Behavior Emphasis Program. I live in Hartford with my three sons, husband and our dog Mindy. We enjoy being outdoors swimming and using our waverunner as often as we can and bowling whenever possible. Course Information As a special education teacher in the Behavior Emphasis Program I help students meet their graduation requirements in the core academic areas of Math, English, Science and Social Studies by providing independent study classes and small group instruction. I am able to provide students with one-on-one assistance when necessary, help students to meet learning targets from their regular education classes, and provide social skill instruction that is beneficial for students while they are in high school and after they graduate.
