The HUHS Scholarship Foundation, Inc., awards approximately 46 scholarships each year to HUHS graduating seniors. Senior students apply for the scholarships using a common Foundation application. That application can be found on our website by clicking Academics-Scholarships-HUHS Scholarship Foundation.
The Foundation is a general, charitable trust, endowed by donations from area businesses and individuals, which generates income to provide scholarships to deserving students. The Foundation is an exempt organization under Sec. 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are deductible for federal and state income tax purposes.
The foundation originally began as the B.E.S.T. Trust, and was an outgrowth of a scholarship trust established under the Will of Florence Place. The Articles of Organization for the Hartford Better Education Scholarship Trust were adopted in 1989. In 2015, the internal structure of the Trust was changed to the HUHS Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
