Form groups of 3 to 4 based on common issue

Follow the steps on p. 28 “Guidelines for Advocates”

Prepare a Written Proposal

· 2-3 pages, typed, 1 inch margins, 12 point font,

· In paragraph form, describe your plan. Use the steps to craft your sections.

· Proposals should have the following sections: Issue, Goal, Allies, Roadblocks, Action Strategies, Media Relations, Resources

· Throughout the proposal, identify which group members will be responsible for each part of the Advocacy Project

Prepare a Presentation

· 3-5 minute presentation to the class

· written, prepared statement for presentation (either outline or script); give copy to teacher before presentation

· include at least 1 visual aid that can be seen by the entire class

· all group members should be prepared to answer questions (chosen randomly)
