Listserv Index

Math and Science Listservs

If you have not tried joining a listserv yet, I highly recommend using one (at least one!). To use a listserv, you must subscribe by sending an e-mail to the computer that runs the listserv; there are specific instructions for each listserv group for how to subscribe. Once you are a subscriber, you will receive any e-mail messages sent to the listserv, and you may post messages to everyone else who subscribes. Listserv groups are based on specific topics, for example, chemistry. The messages you receive automatically from the listserv should (and almost always do) pertain to their topic. These groups are terrific resources, especially for educators and students. Often, a question posted to a listserv will start being answered within hours after sending! Be sure to read the guidelines for how to subscribe, post, and unsubscribe carefully; many people will be on the receiving end of whatever you post to a listserv!
