- When is the portfolio due?
- The
portfolio is due on Monday June
9 (Day 0) for peer review. It will be turned in June
10-13 according to the final exam schedule for your
period.
- Can I use an exam exemption coupon for the portfolio?
- Yes, but you are not exempt from the entire project. Since the portfolio is a year-long assessment, you may use the coupon to be exempt from half of the required number of entries. In other words, you must include 5 summary sheets & artifacts, rather than 10. You must still include one from each unit.
|
- Do I have to show up for the exam
then?
- Yes! You will not be
taking a test, but you will give a presentation on your
portfolio and hand it in at that time. See your
packet for the presentation rubric.
|
- What is the portfolio?
- The portfolio is a project that replaces the spring final exam. It includes examples of your work throughout the entire year.
|
- How should I prepare for the portfolio?
- Don't throw anything away! Saving all of your work gives you a lot to choose from when preparing your portfolio.
|
- What should I put into my portfolio?
- You choose what to put into your portfolio, so you can use any of your work that you want.
- Keep in mind that the higher the quality of items you put into your portfolio, the higher overall grade you will probably receive on it.
- Entries should be major assignments or projects that a good amount of time was spent doing. Minor things worth few points probably should not be used.
- You can also use assignments that you did not do so well on. They should be improved, so you have the best quality work to show.
- Revising your work shows teachers that you care enough to spend time making improvements. It shows that you now understand the material, and can do a better job than you did the first time.
- If you use revised, or improved items in your portfolio, be sure to include the original so I can see how much better you have done.
|
- How much is the portfolio worth?
|
- Why do a portfolio? Isn't it easier just to take a test?
- Portfolios are a great way to show off your hard work throughout the year. Many professions (such as artists, designers, photographers, teachers, engineers, architects, etc.) require a portfolio, to demonstrate abilities and talents.
- It is also an excellent way to review the entire year and analyze your assignments. Many students re-do assignments so they can be used in the portfolio. This gives you an opportunity to reflect on your work and make improvements.
