Sandip Burman, East Indian musician presented a clinic on Indian music to the Symphonic Band on November 15. Thanks to the Hartford Area Band Parents for sponsoring Sandip's performance for our students. Sandip performed on sitar and tabla. He explained how the music of India is learned and passed on from generation to generation. He also explained how the "solfege" of Indian music is used for both melody and rhythmic patterns.

Students of the Symphonic Band really enjoyed learning about Indian music from Sandip Burman. Sandip is an international musician who has performed and recorded with musicians all over the world. This "intimate" session was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students. Check out his web site --- sandipburman.com.
