  1. Use correct APA format.
  2. Italicize

Introduction of author/researcher

  1. Identify the author and his/her credentials, as well as  possible personal agendas.
  2. Identify the publisher and possible publication agendas. (news source, scholarly journal, political/social slants).
  3. Identify any individuals (scientists, politicians, etc.) who are quoted or referred to in the article as experts.  Other key players as well.

Summary of the article

  1. Describe how the author defines the issue/development.
  2. Identify the main themes and concepts presented.

Reactions to the article

  1. Identify information that could be disputed, gaps the authors  knowledge.
  2. Identify what new knowledge you believe you or the public needs to better understand the issue/development.
