Music Recording
Citing Sources

Music recordings can be tricky because their are so many individuals who are directly responsible for the work. In general, follow this format:

Writer, A. (Date of copyright). Title of song [Recorded by artist if different from writer]. On Title of album [Medium of recording: Cd, record, cassette, etc.]. Location: Label. (Recording date if different from copyright date).

Example with same individual writing song and recording:

Diamond, N. (1963). Lady oh. On Beautiful noise [Mp3] New York: Sony Music.

Example with different individuals writing and recording song:

Smith, R. (1995). I can't fly. [Recorded by G. Pitney]. On The worst songs in America [Cassette] Hartford, WI: Main Street Music. (1997).
