Personal intellectual freedom implies intellectual respect for the work of others. Citing sources --whereby writers give credit to the authors and publishers of the the resources they use in their research-- is an academic responsibility. Hartford Union High School adheres to the APA formatting guidelines. The resources on this page are provided to support students in their efforts to correctly and consistently cite sources.

Bib Me Generator
This generator allows you to actually search online for your book, newspaper, magazine, journal,website, or film, and will create a bib record based on your selected sources. Students who create sign up for an account (free!) can save up to 10 bibs online for later revision and printing.

Citation Generator 
A very easy to use "step through" approach, this tool allows users to save list and export as Word or RTF.

Student ABC
This site offers two generators. Select "Format Reference" to enter information from resources you have found offline. Select "Bibliography Search" for websites, and the engine will extract relevant data from the website. Creates both MLA and APA format.

APA Style Wizard
Another "step through" generator, this tool has a companion Validity Wizard that analyzes a resources based on your input.

Knight Cite
From Calvin College, aimed at serious AP and college level users, this generator allows you to cite the most comprehensive list of resources. Allows users to save list and export as Word or RTF.
