Use online databases for reliable primary and secondary information regarding the time periods covered first semester in your Voices in U.S. Literature class:

  1. Get a historical and biographical overview of the period using American History and eLibrary's History Study Center. Dig deeper with Issues and Controversies in American History and U.S. at War: Understanding Conflict and Society. Be sure to note important keywords.

  2. Find literary overviews and samples using LitFinder and eLibrary's Learning Literature (search by dates, individuals, titles). Note: Literature finders will display authors born during a date search. Verify when the author was actively writing).

  3. Visit SIRS: Knowledge Source and access their Reniassance collection for specifics in the arts and humanities.

  4. Discover headlines and first-hand accounts using Access Newspaper Archives (search by year, country, and specific keyword).
