This is my 25th year teaching in Hartford, After my first five years I saw the opportunity to create an alternative program for E.D. students, combining employee related behavioral outcomes with traditional academics.
The program has been a successful "last stop" for many students. The
success of the program rides on a single set of teacher expectations
along with a talented and dedicated paraprofessional staff. During the
20+ years of this program we have formed a partnership with the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and performed thousands of
hours of community service. This partnership has built a sense of
pride in my students and a feeling of membership in the community. I
completed my undergraduate work in North Carolina, and attended
graduate school in Louisiana and Wisconsin. I am certified in history,
broad field social studies and emotional disturbance. |

I have lived in the Hartford area my whole life. I attended Neosho Elementary School and graduated from HUHS in 1975. I met my husband9who also went to HUHS) during my freshman year at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where I earned both my bachelors and masters degree. We married after my junior year and moved to a dairy farm. I began my teaching career at Mayville Middle School and I joined the HUHS special education staff in 1989 a a teacher of students with learning disabilites. I was a cheerleading advisor for twelve years advising both football and wrestling cheerleaders.
We have two children, Amy and Ryan. Amy is presently athe the Milwaukee school of Engineering and Ryan just graduated and is planning on attending the University of Wisconsin Platteville in the fall.
My family and I have a strong interest in racing. My husband, daughter, and son have all raced in some fashion. All of us work at one or both of two area race facilities. We also watch and have had the chance to go to a number of Winston Cup Nascar races!
I very much enjoy my career here at HUHS. I believe that each student has within themselves the ability to be successful. I want to be able to help them achieve their goals and dreams and enjoy a successful life! |

Officially, my name is Janet, but I've always gone by my middle name. I am married and have two children. Both of my children attend slinger Schools and are actively involved in many sports and school activities. My husband Bob, is the owner of Northside Lumber in Milwaukee.
I have been a staff member at HUHS since 1976. I graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a B.S. in Education. My certification allows me to teach grades K-12 in the area of Educable and Trainable Mental Retardation. Today we refer to this area as Cognitive Disability-Moderate and Severe.
During my 25 years of teaching I have had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of students with disabilities. Through the years I have tried to create programs that will help out students improve their academic delays and prepare them for vocational placement. I designed community based program to allow students opportunities to apply skills taught in the classroom out in the community.
In my free time I enjoy sports, reading and traveling. I have had the pleasure of traveling many parts of the U.S. including Alaska. I love golf, downhill and cross-country skiing, tennis, swimming, and water-skiing. |

I can never remember a time in my life when I did not want to become a teacher, but it was when I was a sophomore in high school that I found out what I was destined to teach. I didn't listen to my high school teachers who encouraged me to become a math, english, or social studies teacher. I decided to have it all and become a special education teacher, where I could teach all of those subjects. Now, over 20 years later, I know I made the right decision.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in 1980 with teaching certifications in Emotional and Behavorial Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, and Elementary Education. I have been teaching at HUHS since 1987, I recently earned my Master's Degree from National Louis University in June, 2000.
I am married and have a dog. One of my hobbies is collection dogs: stuffed, pictures, statues, anything - with any kind of dog. Some of my other hobbies include reading, writing, going to or watching movies, and traveling. ome of my favorite places that I have traveled to include Pearl Harbor-Hawaii, New York City, and San Francisco. |
