US Literature Students Make Shoes to Learn |
|||
| If
you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
Students in Mr. Dobberstein's Voices in US Literature classes were challenged with a similar question. To represent their learning about methods of characterization, students created a shoe that symbolized a character from Bernard Malamud's "The First Seven Years," a story of a shoemaker who comes to realize his daughter's unique dreams. Careful analysis of the story, discussion with classmates, application of creative ideas--as well as lots of messy paint and glue--were used to create some real works of art. Special thanks to the ideas and effort of Carol Grant and Sandy Siebers, Art Department Instructors, and Margaret Roever, Computer Lab Coordinator. Click on an image below to see a larger version. |
