Obstacle Course:
Each team member will compete in one phase of the obstacle course. If you do not have enough team members to complete the obstacle course, you will not be allowed to compete. Each team will need nine team members to complete the obstacle course. One team will compete in the obstacle course at a time and be timed. The team in fifth place before the event starts will compete first; fourth place, second; and so on. The team with the quickest time will be considered the winner of the event.
Course
- One team member is to dribble a basketball down the court while weaving between the cones on the court. This team member will then spin around the bat ten times and make a basket from outside the painted “lane” on the floor.
- Once the basket is made from above, the ball must be passed to the next team member who is waiting to walk the balance beam,
crawl under the hurdle and step through the tire course hoola hoops without dropping the basketball. If the basketball is dropped, the team member must start over. The basketball will then be placed in the bucket at the end. This team member will run to the two team members waiting to start the next event.
- The three team members will then leap frog each other down the basketball court. Once the first member of the team crosses the baseline, the team member competing in the previous event will be done.
- The two remaining team members will perform a human wheel barrel to the other baseline of the basketball court. While completing the wheel barrel, the “wheel” must carry a rope down to the other end to be used in the next competition.
- Once the “wheel” crosses the baseline, the rope will be handed to two waiting team members who will tie the rope around their legs to run back in a three-legged race. The two team members will carry the a jump rope to give to the next team member once they have crossed the baseline.
- The next team member will complete 20 consecutive jump ropes. The team member must start over if messing up. The jump rope may be left behind as this team member uses the
scooter crabwalk to get to the other side of the court while weaving between the cones.
- Once the
scooting crab-walking team member crosses the baseline, they must tag the next team member. This team member will have three chances to throw a football (from behind the baseline) to another team member on the opposite side of the basketball court. Once one football is caught (behind half-court), the catching team member can continue with the obstacle course. If none of the balls are caught, a fifteen second penalty will be assessed.
- The person who caught the football will then need to drink a 20 ounce bottle of water.
- Once the previous event is completed, the team member can run to center court to join the rest of the team where a human pyramid will be made. The pyramid will consist of three members on the bottom layer, two on the middle, and one on the top. This is the completion of the pyramid.
- Team pictures will be taken while the pyramid is in tact. Other team members will join around the pyramid.

Blood-Drive
Student Council is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday, February 27th, from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Your donation helps car and burn accident victims, as well as cancer patients, organ-transplant recipients, and premature babies. One pint of blood can save at least three lives!!! Your body contains about 11 pints of blood and begins to immediately replenish the blood you donate, so you will barely know it’s missing!!
The process of donating typically takes about one hour from start to finish. You may sign up for any time slot that is convenient for you (students are asked to donate during study hall or lunch, please). Staff members are given first priority and moved through the process as quickly as possible.
To donate blood, you must be:
+ in good health
+ At least 17 years old (no upper age limit)
+ Weigh at least 110 lbs.
+ Have a photo I.D.
All donors should feel in good health on the day of donation. There are some reasons why you may not be able to donate. Please be prepared to share your list of prescription medications, discuss your medical history and travel outside of the United States.
If you are able to donate blood and would like to arrange an appointment, please reply to this e-mail. If you have any eligibility questions, please let me know.
Hartford Union High School donors were able to give the BloodCenter of Wisconsin 184 units in December. We would like to donate 200 units of blood this month. Please help us reach the goal. Every day patients in our community need hundreds of pints of blood.
