All freshman - sophomores interested in playing baseball can attend pre-season open gyms. Open gyms are designed for players to improve their baseball skills and prepare for the upcoming seasons. The remaining open gyms are 2/26, 3/1, 3/5, 3/8 and 3/12 (7 - 9 pm each night). Please see Coach Vanden Acker if you have any questions.




The fun continues into this week with FFA week. 





Froedtert is offering a Healthcare Career Academy for ten students this summer at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Campus.  This is a two week event from 8:00 am - noon starting Monday July 24 through Friday August 4.  

Students will have the opportunity to get hands on experience in numerous medical departments, including surgery, dietetics, imaging, cancer center, cardiac rehab, ICU, birthing, and more.  Students will attend a department training/expectation meeting right away and then spend the rest of the morning in a specific department/area gaining real-world experience.  

Students are required to attend ALL days of the 2-week rotation and will have the opportunity to earn HUHS credit.  

If interested or if you have any questions see one of the PLTW Science teachers (Mr. Arnholt, Ms. Axford, Ms. McClain) or Mr. Duhr.  Applications may be picked up from one of the PLTW teachers or in the Counseling Office or may be downloaded/printed (Application Link).

Specific timelines, expectations and process details are listed on the applications.

Applications are due to Mr. Duhr (office right outside of the Library) no later than 3:00 pm on Monday March 6.

The top candidates will be scheduled for a brief interview the week of March 13th during Resource/after school in order to pick the top ten candidates and three alternates.


Interested in Law Enforcement Career

On behalf of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin, I am proud to announce our newest program – The Wisconsin American Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy.  This program is open to all Wisconsin students between their Junior and Senior years of High School and will provide first-hand experiences and insight into the operations of law enforcement agencies.  It will also afford highly motivated young people an opportunity to consider law enforcement as a potential career choice.  The program will be held June 19 – June 23, 2017 at Fort McCoy.  To say that we are excited about it would be an understatement!  Please read the attachment for further details.


Humane Society Drive

February 20th through February 24th there will be a drive held for the Washington County Humane Society. An HUHS Student will be available during all lunches, outside the cafeteria, in order to collect any items or monetary donations. Every donation has a chance to win a price for a gift certificate to select locations in Hartford. A winner will be picked every day. A list of needed items can be found here.

Attention Female Students - Jane of All Trades Event

Are you a female student who is undecided about college programs and looking for options?  Take the road less travelled and check out Moraine Park’s Jane of All Trades event!

March 8th is International Women’s Day, and the perfect opportunity for your female students to come check out skills that pay the bills.

Did you know?

According to the DOL Women’s Bureau, women working in Nontraditional Occupations typically earn 20-30% more than women in traditional occupations.  Jane of All Trades is a career exploration event to allow women to see what these programs are all about and if they’re the right fit for them!

This event is only for females and will entail hands on activities for students to participate in. Each registrant can select three program areas to visit, and the event will only take up 2 hours of their time.

Registration is highly encouraged, but not required. 



Girls Field Hockey Team 2017-18

Did you know HUHS has a Girls co-op Field Hockey Team? It will starting next year.

This will be a Summer/Fall sport open to all girls 9 - 12 grade. Please stop into the co-curricular office for more information.



Boys and Girls Cross Country sign-up will take place March 1st from 2:50-3:30 in room 93/95 




Softball Sign-up/pre-season meeting will be held in Commons West from 3:00 - 3:45 on Thursday February 23rd. If you can not make the meeting please email Coach Kerrigan at

Also a reminder that Softball Open Gyms are on the following dates 2/13, 2/21, 2/27, 3/2, 3/6 and 3/9 from 7:30 - 9:00.

PHARMACY SUMMER PROGRAM at UW-Madison August 2 - 5, 2017

The Pharmacy Summer Program is a 4-day precollege residential program for rising high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about pharmacy careers and UW-Madison's college campus. Previous Pharmacy Summer Program activities include: various pharmacy tours, UW-Madison campus tour, compounding and pharmacotherapy lab activities and demonstrations, conversations with current PharmD and graduate students, blood pressure demonstrations, and much more. Students must apply to be considered for the program. 

Though any high school sophomore and junior is welcome to apply, high school students who identify with traditionally underrepresented groups in the health sciences (African-American/Black, Native American/American Indian, Latino/a, Laotian, Vietnamese, Hmong and/or Cambodian) are especially encouraged to apply. PHARMACY PREVIEW DAY at UW- Madison on Saturday, April 8, 2017

This is a day-long event for any high school student interested in learning more about UW-Madison's Doctor of Pharmacy Program. Students and guests will be invited to campus to take part in a engaging discussion with a pharmacist panel, learn about the college admissions and pharmacy school admissions process and have the opportunity to choose from a variety of afternoon breakout sessions including current student panels, a compounding lab demonstration, a patient/pharmacy consultation, a chance to learn about international learning opportunities and much more! The cost to attend is $10/person and registration for this event is required. We look forward to seeing you on April 8th!

Orange Oriole Card

Spring Sports will be starting up soon. If you have not played a fall or winter sport, please stop into the co-curricular office to check if all necessary paperwork is on file.

Once all your forms have been turned in and co-curricular fee paid you will be given an orange oriole card to turn into your coach. Do not wait until the day before practice, you may not start practice without obtaining your orange card.



ATTENTION SENIORS:  If you are in need a 7th semester transcript for scholarships, the Student Services Department will provide you with one free, ink-stamped transcript.  You will then be able to make copies for scholarships that require a transcript.  If you require a second copy, there will be a $5.00 charge.  Please sign up in the Student Services Office. Your transcript will be available within a day or two. 



Moraine Park Technical College will be holding Accuplacer testing here at HUHS on Tuesday, March 21 at 7 a.m. in Room 89/91. There is a $10 test fee, cash or check, that will be collected on the day of the test. Checks can be made out to Moraine Park Technical College or MPTC. The Accuplacer test fulfills admission placement test requirements at many technical colleges throughout the state. You can use your results to find out how ready you are for college. If interested, a sign-up sheet is available in the Counseling Office. The deadline to register is Tuesday, March 14 at 2:45 p.m.

The HUHS Scholarship Foundation application forms are now available for seniors on the counseling page of our website under scholarships. 

Please follow the directions provided. Applications are due no later than Monday, February 27, 2017, by 3:00 pm, in the Counseling Office.   Please note that no late applications will be accepted.
