The Jay Reynolds
Memorial Award

Jay Reynolds was a Hartford wrestler who was killed in a car accident, the day before the Regional tournament in 1988. He was not an exceptional athlete but what he did not have in natural ability he make up for in determination and commitment. As with all wrestlers there are times when you doubt yourself, feel like quitting or giving up... but Jay would not allow these type of negative, self-destructive ideas. At the time of his death in his junior year of school, the wrestlers and coaches decided to honor on a yearly basis that wrestler who best exemplifies this champion. This is the highest honor in our program and is given to the senior who has shown dedication and commitment to the sport of wrestling for four years. It goes with out saying that he must live by the athletic code.

The Dan Hall Memorial "MVP" Award
The MVP award which is given out annually was renamed in honor of Dan Hall who wrestled from 1979-83. Dan was the first four-time state placewinner and MVP and finished with a 114-10 prep record. He was killed in 1988 after capping a very successful collegiate career at UW Parkside.
