PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Nikki Kreutzer, a freshmen at HUHS, in in her first year with the Varsity Lady Orioles.  She has a considerable amount of fastpitch experience playing with the North Shore Stars select team as well as the Richfield Youth Program.  Nikki was a participant in HUHS's Model UN and is an Honor Roll student.  Kreutzer would like a career in pediatrics or sports medicine.  She hopes to attend UW Madison or Arizona State.  Nikki's advice to young players..."Never let a mistake get to you; just shake it off and keep playing the game."

Junior, Stephanie Groshek has been playing softball since second grade in Richfield.  Stephanie's academic accomplishments at HUHS include recieving High Honors and academic recognitions.  In the past she has contributed to the Lady Oriole volleyball and basketball programs.  Groshek would like to attend UW Milwaukee to persue a career in education.  Stephanie encourages young players to..."Always try your hardest and remember to have fun."

Madalyn Sawdey made the '08 varsity team as a freshman after gaining extensive experience with the Menomonee Falls Angles fastpitch club team and the Germantown Thunder select team.  Sawdey also touts a 4.0 GPA, High honor roll, and is in the top 10 students of her class.  Other HUHS activities include JV volleyball, basketball, and Student Council.  Madalyn would like to go to UW Eau-Claire to become a Nurse Practitioner.  Sawdey's words of wisdom to younger players..."You may not make the perfect throw, or the perfect catch but don't let that discourage you.  Defense wins!"

Jessica Wolters, a junior at HUHS, is playing her first varsity season with the Lady Orioles.  Her fastpitch experience goes back to her 8th grade year.  In addition to having played Lady Orioles basketball in the past she is a current member of the National Honors Society, earned her academic letter, and is on the high honor roll. Jessica would like to attend UW Whitewater to earn an accounting degree.  Wolter's advice to young players..."Never give up, just try harder".

Junior Holly Roethle is in her first year playing varsity softball at HUHS after two years experience on the junior varsity team.  Roethle touts high honors and is a part of the National Honors Society.  She would like to attend UW Madison or UW Milwaukee with career plans in graphics communications or education.  Holly would like to see younger players listen and work their hardest because it will put them ahead in later years.

Carrie Thoma, a junior at HUHS, has been playing ball since t-ball with the Richfield Youth Program.  This three year letterwinner in Basketball has also earned her academic letter, is a member of the National Honors Society, and consistantly earns high honors.  Thoma would like to become and an athletic trainer or physical education teacher.  Post high school, Carrie would like to attend Whitewater, Green Bay, Concordia-MN, or UW Milwaukee.  Carrie reminds young girls: " Don't give up on chasing your dreams because you'll never know how absolutely perfect something could turn out."

Junior, Liz Menzel, is in her second year with the Lady Orioles softball team.  Liz was moved up to the varsity team midway through last season to contribute to Hartford's outfield.  She has been playing softball since she was very young for the Richfield summer league.  Academically, Menzel boasts high honors and is a member of the National Honors Society.  Liz also manages the boys cross country team.  Liz would like to attend UW Madison with a major in pre med and a minor in foreign language.  Liz's words of wisdom to younger players: "Dedication determines success, put forth the effort and the outcome will reflect it."

Sophomore, Emma Sawdey, is in her second year catching for the Lady Orioles. She started playing fastpitch ball at age 6 and spends her summers improving her skills with the Germantown Gems fastpitch team. Sawdey is also involved in HUHS Forensics, volleyball, Student Council, wrestling stats, and the school musical. She has also  been on the high honor roll since freshman year. Emma would like to become a pharmasist and attend UW Plattevill, Drake University, or the University of Minnesota. Sawdey encourages young girls to, "Work hard for the spot you want, and give the game everything you've got everyday."

Kasey Heidecker is in her second year with the Lady Orioles and a Junior at HUHS.  Kasey grew up playing softball in Oklahoma.  Since moving to Wisconsin she gained vauable experience playing with the summer select fastpitch team the Northshore Stars.  Kasey is a repeat honor roll student, has been on student council, the tennis team, and participated in forensics.  Heidecker would like to attend UW LaCrosse, UW EauClare, or Marquette to persue a marketing career.  Kasey reminds younger players, "Don't give up and always keep trying."

Katie Schmitt, a senior at HUHS, has fastpitch experience from both the Lady Oriole and the Richfiled Summer Fastpitch league. Schmitt is on the school's honor roll and stays active spending time with friends and also by volunteering for Richfield Days through the Richfield Fire Dept. Katie plans to attend UW Washington County and then transfer to UW Parkside to persue a career in secondary history education or law enforcement.  Schmitt's words of wisdom for young players:"Listen to your coaches, they know what they're talking about".

Senior, Ashley DeAngelis, has been playing softball for six years.  Her last three years with the Lady Orioles and all six with the Richfield Youth Program.  DeAngelis' accomplishments also include Honor Roll, band member, Pit Band, math team and colorguard.  Ashley plans on attending UW Washington County then transferring to Madison to earn her pre-pharmacy degree.  She hopes to go the medical school to be a pharmasist.  Ashley would like young players to know they should"Never give up and remember never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."

Trisha Rosbeck is a three season athlete for HUHS that contributed to the Lady Oriole outfield last season.  A letter winner in both Volleyball and Basketball, Rosbeck brings dedication and hard work to the 2008 Softball team.  Trisha looks forward to graduating with High Honors and is currently a member of the National Honor Society.  She plans on attending UW LaCrosse to study a field in chiropractic or massage therapy.  Rosbeck's message to young softball players,"Play your best at all times and keep a positive attitude."

Elizabeth Kerrigan, a senior with the Lady Orioles, is a three year letter winner with HUHS softball.  Ranked 10th in her class, Kerrigan is a member of the National Honors Society and has been on High Honor Roll since her Freshmen year.  She also participates on the school's math team and is a member of the H Club.  Kerrigan's competative softball experience began when she was twelve playing for the summer select team the Sliders.  Kerrigan plans to attend UW LaCrosse and hopes to become a physical therapist.  Elizabeth encourages young players to play with confidence and never let what happened negatively yesterday affect how you play today.
