John Redders
Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach


Coach Redders is in his 10th consecutive year with the Oriole staff.  John was also an assistant coach with the Hartford during the 1991WLT championship campaign as the defensive coordinator and receiver coach.  He is once again taking the defensive coordinator responsibility after serving 4 years as the defensive backs coach.  He has coached wide receivers and was the special teams coach in 2000-2001.  Coach Redders has previously worked at Madison East High (1992-1995) and as a graduate assistant at Northern Michigan University (1990-1991). He also is the head track coach here at HUHS.

John Redders had a great playing career also.  He was a 3 year letter winner and three time all city selection as a RB and DB at Madison East High school.  In 1985 he was named Madison Newspaper's City player of the year and back of the year.  To top it off, John Redders was an all-region and all-state selection in 1985.

At Northern Michigan University, Coach Redders was a 4 year letterman, a three year starter, and a 2 time all conference selection.  He was also named a team captain as a junior and a senior in 1988 and 1989.  He lead the Wildcats in receiving his senior year with 39 rec. 659 yds, and 4 touchdowns.  He still holds the school record for receptions in a game with 15.  He was named team MVP in 1989 as a WR.

Coach Redders coached NFL receiver Donald Hayes at Madison East High school and also played with Detroit Lions coach Steve Marriuci's brother Bobby at Northern Michigan University.  John and his wife Carol have two daughters and a son.
