What is The FFA? |
|
|
The FFA operates on
local, state and national levels. Student members belong to chapters organized
at the local school level. Agricultural education instructors serve as chapter
advisors. Chapters are organized under state associations headed by an advisor
and executive secretary, often employees of the state department of education.
States conduct programs and host annual conventions.
Founded in 1928, the former "Future Farmers of America" brought together
students, teachers and agribusiness to solidify support for agricultural
education.
The Wisconsin FFA Association was founded in 1929.
For more information on the FFA please checkout this PowerPoint
presentation.

How to
Join FFA
FFA is not like a "club." It is one of three integral components of an
agricultural education program: classroom instruction, supervised agricultural
experience and life skills. Students between the ages of 12 and 21 who are
enrolled in a course of instruction in agricultural education are
eligible for membership. Your local school system must offer agricultural
instruction and have an active FFA chapter for you to join however. To see if
your school has a chapter or a local school does you can click this link which
will take you to the
Wisconsin state chapters list. If you want to join the Hartford FFA just send
Nick,
Mr. Ehrenberg,
or Mr. Hennes
an email and we will get you stated on you way to becoming a Hartford FFA
member.
