MARCH STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

EDWARD GRINWALD – Ms. Siebers of the Art Department selected Ed as a Student of the Month. Ed has three art classes this year (AP Studio Art, Painting 1, and AP Art History). Ms. Siebers said she has seen a huge improvement in Ed’s work. He has excellent quality, the work is on time, and he shows a sincere effort and interest in his work. Ed is a senior and was just accepted to MIAD. Keep up the great work! You are a 1st Class student!

CODY SCHMITTINGER – Mr. Noennig of the Social Studies Department chose Cody as a Student of the Month. Cody has demonstrated a passion for Social Studies over the course of this year. He is taking numerous classes in the Social
Studies Department and is excelling. Cody can often be seen in the Social Studies hall after school discussing current topics with his teachers. You are a 1st Class student!

REBECCA GRINWALD – Technology Education and Engineering teacher, Mr. Jobst, selected Becky as his Student of the Month. Becky was in Construction 1 and is currently in Architecture II. Becky presented the Construction portion
of the Design to Build concept for the SISTAS program. She did an outstanding presentation. Becky’s talents and selfconfidence will take her wherever she decides to go in her future. Thank you for your 1st Class performance!

BRADLEY LENTZ – Mr. Cheske and Mr. Matson selected Bradley as a Student of the Month for the Business Information and Technology Department. Brad led DECA to an outstanding performance at the state competition, qualifying 6
students for the international competition. Brad also campaigned for, and secured, the Vice-President of Civic Consciousness office for the State of Wisconsin DECA organization. Brad’s dedication to his education in the classroom, and outside the classroom, has earned him recognition around the state. Thank you for representing HUHS as a 1st Class student. Congratulations on your role as Vice-President of Civic Consciousness for the Wisconsin DECA organization.

JENNIFER BLALOCK
– Ms. Hardel selected Jennifer as a Student of the Month. Jennifer has shown exemplary scientific abilities in every area of Biology. She has shown strong leadership abilities in laboratory activities as well as classroom
discussion. The quality of her work is exceptional – from laboratory experiments to daily homework to major projects. Jennifer has been consistently outstanding in every single aspect of the course all year. You are a 1st Class student!

BRIAN STAPLETON – Brian was selected by Ms. Hardel as a Student of the Month. Brian is not only an extremely capable Biology student, but he also took the initiative to act as an interpreter for a Spanish-speaking student in class. Brian requested to be seated near the student in order to translate instructions during class when needed. Combining his Spanish fluency with his in-depth knowledge of Biology, Brian has assisted his peers while demonstrating truly 1st Class behavior.

KAITLIN SHEA – Ms. Becker of the Family and Consumer Education Department selected Kaitlin as a Student of the Month. Ms. Becker said it was great to have Kaitlin in her Friends and Family class. Kaitlin participates in discussions, shows leadership skills, and is an outstanding student in class. Ms. Becker stated Kaitlin will have a lot to offer when she is done with her education at HUHS. You are a 1st Class student!

KRISTIN SULLIVAN – Ms. Becker of the Family and Consumer Education Department selected Kristen as a Student of the Month. Kristen is in Ms. Becker’s Introduction to Health Careers class. Ms. Becker stated that Kristen is a self-motivated student who participates in discussions, has strong leadership skills, and demonstrates 1st Class behavior. Thank you for being an HUHS 1st Class student.

MONICA GREIS – Mr. Schmidt of the Family and Consumer Education Department selected Monica as a Student of the Month. Mr. Schmidt stated that Monica is currently the only Culinary Arts II student receiving an ‘A+’ for the semester. Out of three different classes, she received the highest score on our most recent exam. On top of this, she has shown great dedication and effort to finish a major project. Congratulations Monica on your outstanding work and thank you for displaying 1st Class behavior.

ANDREW THORN – Mr. Redders chose Andrew as a Student of the Month. Mr. Redders said Andrew is full of energy, has great enthusiasm, and loves to play with intensity. Thank you for displaying 1st Class behaviors!

KEVIN KANNENBERG - Mr. Nied from the Technology Education and Engineering Department selected Kevin Kannenberg as a Student of the Month for his under-standing and advanced abilities using Solidworks design software in the CAD Engineering 2 class. Kevin excels, goes beyond expectations, and models an excellent work ethic. You are a 1st Class student!

MORIAH MICHALAK - Al Sr. Scharpf le gustaria nominar a Moriah Michalak como Estudiante del Mes. Ella es entusiastica y lista. Es un placer tenerla en clase. (Sr. Scharpf would like to nominate Moriah Michalak as a Student of the Month for March. She is enthusiastic and bright. It’s a pleasure to have her in class.) You are a 1st Class student!

NORA NELSON – The Counseling Department selected Nora as a March Student of the Month. Nora has been a student helper in the Counseling Office this past semester. She is creative and has designed a lot of posters for the department, including ones used to promote the very successful College Fair. Nora is also very conscientious and a hard worker. You are a 1st Class student!

DAN LOOSEN – Mr. McCauley of the Technology and Engineering Education (TEE) Department selected Dan as a Student of the Month. Dan continually goes above and beyond expectations. He is currently Mr. McCauley’s student helper, study hall volunteer, student treasurer, Spring Sale volunteer, and a regular open lab participant. Mr. McCauley states, “Dan is truly an inspiration for all of us. He is a great example of why our comprehensive high school works!” You are a 1st Class student!

KELLY KATONA – The Music Department selected Kelly as a Student of the Month. Kelly took a leadership role these past few months with the Voces Bel Canto (VBC) choir. She helped her fellow students practice for concert
performances and solo-ensemble events. Her leadership in the choirs has certainly contributed to the success of the choirs this year. You are a 1st Class student!

DANA FRITCHE – The Music Department selected Dana as a Student of the Month. Dana has been a consistent leader in the percussion section of Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensembles. She has approached rehearsals and
performances with a professional level demeanor. Her unselfish contributions to setting up and cleaning up equipment daily have been noted by all music staff. In addition to performances in jazz ensemble and symphonic band, Dana also contributed a leadership role to organizing, planning, rehearsing and performing the nine-member jazz combo which received a state-qualifying 1st at the district solo/ensemble festival. Dana also accompanied the string “pops” group in their exemplary performance, and received special recognition from the adjudicator for her contribution to the strings performance. Dana has also volunteered time with the orchestra concert performances this year. You are a 1st Class student!

HANS HERMANN – Mr. Scharpf of the World Language Department would like to select Hans as a Student of the Month. (“Al Sr. Scharpf le gustaria nominar a Hans Hermann para Estudiante del Mes. Hans es super inteligente y estudioso. Es un placer tenerlo en clase.”) Hans is super intelligent and studious. It’s a pleasure to have him in class. You are a 1st Class student!

TERESA DIETENBERGER – Ms. Deback of the Technology Education and Engineering Department chose Teresa as a Student of the Month. Per Ms. Deback, Teresa has really gone the extra mile, finishing proofs, and pages for the yearbook with many changes which were not her fault, but who it fell to, to make the changes. She really picked up the job and did great work! It’s people like her that make our Yearbook great! You are a 1st Class student!

DANA HARLEY – Ms. Keller of the Art Department chose Dana as a Student of the Month. Dana’s awareness of possibility breeds creativity. Her ability to absorb constructive feedback produces perfection. You are a 1st Class student!

ALEXANDRA GEHRING
– Chris Shelsta from the Phy Ed/Health Department chose Lexi as her Student of the Month. Lexi has been extremely helpful as a Student Assistant in her Junior Health class. She is a very responsible and trustworthy student who goes well above and beyond what is asked of her. She has taken time outside of the class to come in to help with various other teaching tasks that couldn’t be done in class. Lexi is a great addition to the learning atmosphere in the classroom. You are a 1st Class student!

JULIE BEHNKE - Julie was selected for a Student of the Month by the Mathe-matics Department. Julie is a senior in AP Statistics. Julie is an excellent student whose work is superior. She is able to explain and justify her mathematical results with well written conclusions. You are a 1st Class student!

SAMMANTHA GRINWALD
– Sammantha was selected as a Student of the Month by Christiane Scharpf of the World Language Department. Sammantha is a sopho-more in her 2nd year of German. She has been an outstanding World Language student. Her academic performance has been consistently above average, and her work is done to perfection. Sammantha actively participates in class, works very efficiently, and comes to class prepared. It has been a pleasure and privilege to have Sammantha in class. Fantastisch! You are a 1st Class student!

MEGAN VALUCH – Mr. Roskom of the English Department recommended Megan as a Student of the Month. Megan is in his World Literature class and comes to class prepared and her assignments are completed in a thoughtful fashion. She participates very effectively and frequently in the class discussions. You are a 1st Class student!

GEORGE PETRILLI
– Ms. Parker of the English Department recommended George as a Student of the Month. George
is a wonderful writer and shows a maturity in his writing. George is also a great participator in class discussions. You
are a 1st Class student!

BEN SCHMIRLER
– Ms. Fendt of the World Language Department selected Ben as a Student of the Month. Ben is an excellent Spanish student. Not only does he go above and beyond what is expected of him, he’s also very helpful to his fellow classmates. Ben is a quiet leader . . . he doesn’t need or want to be the center of attention, however, he leads without even realizing it. You are a 1st Class student!
