FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Anthony Sallmann – Anthony, a ninth grader, was selected as a Student of the Month by his World Language teacher, Mr. Musonera. Mr. Musonera stated Anthony is a hard worker and usually helps his peers who have difficulties completing their class work. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Ashley Colegnon – Ashley was chosen as a Student of the Month by the Music Department. Ashley was recognized for her leadership in the Orchestra class and her initiative to help other students in the class with their music. Ashley has taken on the responsibility to help other Orchestra students with their music and their solos without being asked. Her leadership and initiative have been 1st Class. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Kristen Ney – Kristen was selected as a Student of the Month by her AP Art History teacher, Ms. Siebers. Ms. Siebers stated Kristen is an exemplar student: on task, on time, completes all work in a well done and timely fashion, contributes in class, and seems to enjoy learning about the history of art. Kristen’s note cards, which are completed every week, are miniature works of art in themselves! Neat, concise, chuck full of content, and visually appealing!

Matthew Paul – Matthew was recognized as a Student of the Month by his Art teacher, Ms. Keller. Matthew displays excellence in his artwork through great attention to detail and constant self-assessment of his work. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
David Triick – David was selected as a Student of the Month by his Art teacher, Ms. Keller. Ms. Keller said that David adds to the learning atmosphere by formulating pertinent questions for her and for his own artwork as well as readily expressing constructive feedback to class members. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Sam Heck – Sam was chosen by the Technology Education and Engineering Department as a Student of the Month. The Tech Ed staff states that Sam has done an excellent job in all of his Technology and Engineering Classes but this year he is a standout while working on the Vision home. He always does what is asked of him, does quality work, and sets a good example with his work ethic and cooperation with others. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Patrick Fell – Patrick was chosen as a Student of the Month by his teacher Ms. Posorske. Patrick has shown remarkable improvement this year. He has been involved in a new vocational training site at HUHS called CSIHartford which means Car Salon In-Hartford. Patrick has been detailing cars and is doing a fantastic job. Through this experience Patrick has improved his work skills, attitude and behavior. Congratulations Patrick and thank you for

Alexander Sprtel – Alex was selected by his F/CE teacher, Ms. Becker, as a Student of the Month. Alex is always ontask and a good role model to other students. He is a team player in lab situations. He displays 1st Class behavior to his classmates, lab partners and teacher. Alex has a great personality. It is very pleasing to have a student like him in class. Thank you for your 1st Class behavior!
Ericka Klein – Ericka was selected as a Student of the Month by her F/CE teacher, Ms. Becker. Ericka works hard in class and does well in both of her F/CE classes. She has a positive outlook on life and is a good role model for other students in the class. Ericka has great leadership potential and is very helpful to students and the classroom teacher.
Ericka displays HUHS’s 1st Class motto. Thanks for being a 1st Class student!
Brittany Paul – Brittany was selected as a Student of the Month by her F/CE teacher, Ms. Becker. Brittany is an excellent student in class. She participates in class discussions and is good at getting other students involved. Brittany’s personality assists her in being one of the student leaders in the class. She demonstrates many of the traits
of a 1st Class student from HUHS. Thank you for displaying 1st Class behavior!
David Johnson – David was selected as a Student of the Month by his Health teacher, Ms. Baumann and also by the Business Information and Technology Department. David was a tremendous help to Ms. Baumann in assisting her in checking students’ techniques and applications of Red Cross skills. David is already trained and certified for CPR and First Aid. David took this responsibility seriously by preparing early for his own testing and then demonstrating and/or correcting students while they were practicing their skills. He handled himself in a very mature manner and with a serious attitude. His assistance was very much appreciated by the teacher and the students in the class. Ms. Danay of the B.I.T. Department stated that David is an outstanding Marketing II student and went the extra yard in the
February Frenzy tournament. He helped out with various tournaments and showed his leadership skills as a 1st Class student! Congratulations!
Ethan Bidwell – Ethan was selected as a Student of the Month by the CA$H Program Director, Ms. Rettler. Ethan is a very hard working, conscientious and highly motivated student. Thank you for demonstrating 1st Class behaviors!
Kaylee Horvath – Kaylee was selected as a Student of the Month by the CA$H Program Director, Ms. Rettler. Kaylee demonstrates a positive approach to school, work, and other students. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Jordan Radermacher – Jordan was nominated for Student of the Month by Physical Education teacher, Mr. Best. Jordan is a Senior Assistant and a student in the Personal Fitness and Wellness class who has gone above and beyond normal expectations. He is always willing to help the other students and is a “go to guy” for the teachers. His attitude
is positive and it has an affect on his classmates. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Breanna Heidel – Breanna was selected as a Student of the Month by her Science teacher, Mr. Bugenhagen. Breanna has demonstrated that grades can be improved by asking questions and coming in for help from a teacher in the subject area. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Robert Michalak – Robert was selected as a Student of the Month by his Science teacher, Mr. Zimmer. Mr. Zimmer stated Rob is an excellent senior in his chemistry class. He always has near the top score and is a quiet leader in the class. Mr. Zimmer believes everyone in the whole class respects Rob. Rob is a great person in addition to being a great chemistry student. You are a 1st Class student!
Naomi Jahn – Naomi was selected as a Student of the Month by her Chemistry teacher, Ms. John. Naomi has shown a strong aptitude for chemistry and is very energetic in class. She has proven her abilities over and over, and works hard to pass on her understanding to other students. Thank you for demonstrating your 1st Class behavior!
Josh Regan – Josh was selected as a Student of the Month by Security Supervisor, Ms. Wesener, who stated Josh helped out a student one wintry morning when the student needed medication from home and Josh offered to take her there to get her medication. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Kimmy Prill – Kimmy was selected as a Student of the Month by Mr. Carter, her Journalism teacher. Kimmy is a member of the Hartford Chronicle staff and has been doing a wonderful job. Congratulations to a 1st Class student!
Kaylyn Krebs – Kaylyn was chosen as a Student of the Month by Mr. Moser, her AP Language and Composition teacher. Kaylyn has continued to improve in her writing abilities on a consistent basis throughout the year in AP Language and Composition. Thank you for being a 1st Class student!
Samantha Sablich – Samantha was selected by her Interpersonal Communication teacher, Ms. Handlos. Sam is a wonderful contributor during group activities in the Interpersonal Communication class. Thank you for displaying 1st Class behavior!
Katie Roethle – Katie was selected as a Student of the Month by Mr. Jobst, her Architecture II teacher. Katie also was in Construction I and participates in a CAD-Architectural Internship. She presented the Architecture portion of the Design to Build concept for the SISTAS program and did a fantastic job. Mr. Jobst stated that Katie has grown both personally and scholastically while in his classes. He stated Katie has a bright future ahead of her! Congratulations on being a 1st Class student!
Monica Greis – Monica was selected by Ms. Kraus as a Student of the Month for February. Ms. Kraus stated Monica not only does a wonderful job asking questions in Geometry class, but also spent a considerable amount of time on her “Shapes in Space” project. In the project, Monica analyzed three different photos from the newspaper that depicted either one-point or two-point perspective drawing. The way she analyzed these photos was insightful and thoroughly interesting. Monica has been a model math student throughout this entire school year. Keep up the excellent work! Kaitlyn Multhauf – Kaitlyn was selected as a February Student of the Month by Math teacher Ms. Foley (Staus). Kaitlyn is a responsible, diligent math student who always comes prepared, asks great questions and helps others, and maintains a positive attitude. She is excelling in Algebra II working very hard to continue that standard. Kaitlyn works
hard to succeed at everything she attempts. Congratulations on being a 1st Class student!
Lauren Bauer – Lauren was selected as a Student of the Month by Social Studies teacher Mr. Ziebarth. Mr. Ziebarth stated that Lauren is the sort of student who not only works hard to learn history but also makes connections between the stuff of history (people, places, and events in time) and the skills good historians have perfected. She has improved her ability to think about significant events in time. She also improved her ability to analyze the impact of
decisions that past leaders have made (whether they are good decisions or not). She also has the ability to make connections between historical events in one era with those in another. She makes it seem like she’s a natural at historical thinking, but has worked very hard to make it seem that way and that’s what scholarship is all about. Congratulations on being a 1st Class student!
Brad Swenson – Business and Information Technology teacher, Ms. Danay, selected Brad as a Student of the Month stating Brad is an outstanding Marketing II student and went the extra yard in the February Frenzy tournaments. He helped out with the various tournaments and showed his leadership as a 1st Class student! Congratulations!
Adam Wolf – Adam was selected as a Student of the Month by the Counseling Dept. Adam was nominated for his honesty and integrity. Thank you for demonstrating 1st Class behavior!
Matt Schmirler – Matt was selected by Mathematics teacher Ms. Bendall for his excellence in three math classes, all being taken simultaneously. Matt is currently earning top grades in Honors Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Consumer Math. Matt participates effectively during class discussions, often answering questions that other students have difficulty with because of the difficulty of the content. Congratulations for being a 1st Class student!
Kaylyn Krebs – English teacher, Mr. Moser, selected Kaylyn as a Student of the Month. Kaylyn has continued to improve her writing abilities on a consistent basis throughout the year in AP Language and Composition.
Abbey Ostrander – Abbey submitted a poster in the Amity Institute’s poster contest. Abbey won Best Overall, the top prize in the 2007 Amity Poster Contest. Congratulations for being a 1st Class student and representing Hartford High School!
Joe Stefanich – Joe submitted a poster in the Amity Institute’s poster contest. Joe won first place in the High School age group. Congratulations on your achievement and representing HUHS! You are a 1st Class student!
Stefanie Higgins – Stephanie was honored at the annual Scholastic Arts Competition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Stephanie, a 10th grade student, won a Silver Key award for her ultra realistic drawing. Congratulations on your achievement! Thank you for representing HUHS. You are a 1st Class student!
Becky Grinwald – Becky was honored at the annual Scholastic Arts Competition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Becky, a senior, won a Silver Key award for her amazing water color painting. Thank you for representing HUHS. Congratulations on your achievement! You are a 1st Class student!
John Reffke – John was honored at the annual Scholastic Arts Competition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. John, a junior at HUHS, won a Gold Key award, the highest honor, for his mysterious black and white inkwash of a cemetery. Thank you for representing HUHS! Congratulations on your achievement and for being a 1st Class student!
Matthew Paradies – Matthew was selected as a Student of the Month by the Counseling Department for his honesty involving turning in an iPod he found. Thank you for demonstrating 1st Class behavior!
Tyler Schultz – Ms. Algiers, Tyler’s Spanish teacher, selected Tyler as a Student of the Month from her Spanish classes. She said Tyler is always well-prepared and comes into class every day with a positive attitude. He understands the concepts well, and tries to expand his understanding by challenging himself. He participates in the activities with a lot of enthusiasm. Bravo, Tyler! Thanks for being a 1st Class student!
Nerissa Bermudez – Nerissa was selected as a Student of the Month by her English teacher, Ms. Algiers. Nerissa is an effective class leader with a good sense of humor.
