Mission Statement: Our mission is to help all students become aware of their interests, the kind of work they enjoy, and their aptitudes as they develop and apply life-long learning skills which will enable them to become productive citizens capable of succeeding in an ever changing world of work. The responsibility will be shared by students, teachers, counselors, parents, and community members as it is integrated into the K-12 curriculum. |

The Volunteer in Partnership (VIP) program was a direct result of the Strategic Plan instituted in 1992 by a large number of local citizens interested in the programs at HUHS. There were seven major action plans and three of those involved bringing our community and our students together for the betterment of both. The VIP program became the umbrella over all of our volunteer programs including our students volunteering their time in the community; the community business and industry volunteering their expertise and their work sites for internships, co-ops, and apprenticeships; and our community service groups mentoring and assisting our programs whenever possible. An annual award was adopted to highlight those individuals, companies or service groups who have put forth an outstanding effort within the year to this program.
We are proud to announce this year’s winner, George Roemer, for his overwhelming support for the students of Hartford Union High School ’s Education for Employment and School-to-Work initiatives. |
